NYC-DSA Tech Action Working Group Meeting

  • 114 W 26th Street, 9th Floor New York, NY (map)

Join us for the Tech Action Working Group's November meeting!

In our last meeting, we talked about planning a discussion on the issues surrounding James Damore's anti-diversity memo at Google and his subsequent firing, a way for people in and adjacent to tech to talk about this bundle of tricky issues without HR departments or online randos to complicate things.

November's meeting will be steered by some Tech Actions members who have volunteered to speak on some of the issues surrounding the memo, issues like:

* background on gender inequality in tech;
* pseudoscience in Damore's claims about biological differences;
* experience with discrimination and misconduct at work;
* diversity as a corporate pursuit;
* organizing and labor rights in tech;
* connection to larger alt right movement;

We'll also have some report-backs from our new subcommittees: Tech Politics, Local Action, Tech Labor, and Events and Outreach, and we’ll announce a status update on the City Council's Algorithmic Transparency bill.

Drinks afterward at a local bar.
