NYC-DSA Socialist Day School featuring Frances Fox Piven
May 12th and May 13th

Program and Reading Packet: http://dsa.nyc/dayschool/

Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) has grown explosively since the presidential election. This is, however, just the most recent upsurge of a movement that has deep historical roots. On May 12th and 13th, NYC-DSA will host a Socialist Day School that will investigate the influence these historical movements have on our current moment and what lessons we can learn as activists and organizers fighting for socialism today.

Speakers include: Jabari Brisport, Meghan Brophy, Maurice Isserman, Dan La Botz, Mark Levitan, Joseph Luders, Bob Master, Nivedita Majumdar, Yotam Marom, Maxine Phillips, Frances Fox Piven, Rene Rojas, Kristin Schall, Joseph Schwartz, Gay Semel, Reg Wilson

Topics: Topics: The 1930s Upsurge; The Anti-War and Civil Rights Movements of the 1960s; Rank-and-File Worker Rebellion in the 1970s; The Early Days of DSA; Occupy, BLM, Bernie and the Tasks of Socialists Toda
