Health Insurance: Know Your Rights

  • 114 West 26th Street New York, NY, 10001 United States (map)

There are 245 million Americans dependent on private health insurance plans. But how much do you know about what is actually in your plan? How much you would have to pay if you had an emergency and ended up in the hospital? What if one of the doctors operating on you is not in your network? What are all these terms in my health insurance plan that I don't understand?

As part of the fight for Medicare For All, the Socialist Feminist Working Group will be hosting a training where you can learn the answers to these questions and more. In this training, you will learn the ins and outs of private health insurance plans, what costs to expect based on your plans, how to avoid being bilked by your health insurance company, and your rights as a consumer within the insurance industry. You will then be able to share this information with your friends, families, and coworkers. Learning about all the upfront and hidden costs of our privatized healthcare system is a great way to mobilize folks in support of universal healthcare!

Please bring copies of your insurance plans as well as any itemized medical bills that you don't understand so that we can help you figure them out!
