ICE Out of the Courts Speak Out

  • Foley Square Foley Square New York, NY United States (map)

Since Trump took office, ICE agents have made hundreds of arrests of undocumented immigrants in and around New York’s courthouses. The 1200% increase in courthouse arrests since 2016 is an attack immigrants’ lives, livelihoods, and access to equal justice. The threat of courthouse arrests keeps undocumented immigrants from seeking justice, from domestic abuse to landlord harassment, and deters them from appearing for minor charges. Public outcry has grown in response, with activists and lawyers calling for an end to ICE’s presence in our courts. City and state officials have done nothing to stop ICE, exposing the lie of our so-called “sanctuary city.”

Join us Thursday, Oct 11 at 5PM in Foley Square where we will hold a Speak Out against courthouse arrests, and the profit-motivated prison industrial complex that drives this racist and xenophobic system. NYC Democratic Socialists of America will join in coalition to deliver thousands of petitions calling on Janet DiFiore, Chief Judge of New York, to take action to end ICE’s presence in the courts. We welcome you to the petition delivery at at 4pm at 25 Beaver St., Janet DiFiore’s New York office.
