Radical Black Feminism Reading Group

  • ThoughtWorks 99 Madison Avenue, 15th Floor New York, NY, 10016 United States (map)

The Socialist Feminist Working Group is hosting a reading group on Radical Black Feminism. Sign up here --->

Since slavery, black feminist scholars and activists have articulated a socialist vision for ending systemic oppression. Radical black feminism recognizes how all systems of oppression are inextricably linked while maintaining the unique circumstances of anti-blackness, misogynoir, and class oppression. An understanding of this theoretical framework is essential for those interested in developing strategies to end all forms of exploitation.

In this reading group we will discuss Racecraft, black women’s exclusion from feminist and nationalist movements, sexual violence, electoral politics, welfare, mass incarceration, labor, careerism, queerness, and self care.

*This reading group will be open to all genders. Light refreshments will be served and you are encouraged to bring a snack to share as well.
