The Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) is a farm worker rights organization, internationally recognized for its achievements in the fields of social responsibility, human trafficking, and gender-based violence at work. In 2011, CIW launched the Fair Food Program (FFP), a groundbreaking model for Worker-driven Social Responsibility (WSR) based on a unique partnership among farmworkers, tomato growers, and participating retail buyers. For the past few years the CIW has targeted Wendy's to join their Fair Food Program and create better working conditions in the fields for farm workers. However Wendy'shas continued to ignore these calls. Because of this CIW members and families will march on Wendy's CEO Nelson Peltz's office. For me info see https://ciw-online.org/blog/2018/07/announcing-on-july-19-farmworkers-return-to-nyc-to-demand-how-much-longer-wendys/
Please join DSA Climate Justice Working Group in supporting the CIW efforts to create better, safer working conditions for farm workers. The DSA contingent will meet around the corner on 49th street in front of Starbucks, before joining the general march at 5. Please wear red or DSA items.
