They Live: A Spooky Movie Night with CBK & SBK

  • 472 79th Street Brooklyn, NY, 11209 United States (map)

Horror and socialism have long gone hand in hand. In Capital, Marx writes, "Capital is dead labor, which, vampire-like, lives only by sucking living labor, and lives the more, the more labor it sucks." He writes of "the cannibalism of counter-revolution" and "the werewolf’s hunger for surplus labor."

On October 13th, we flip the script: instead of using horror tropes as a metaphor to describe capital, we are using a horror movie to hang out with comrades and raise money for socialism. Join us for a screening of the cult-classic "They Live" in our comrade's backyard. This event is outside, so bring your blankets, chairs, and cozy clothes. We will also be selling some beverages (e.g., hot cider) to help keep everyone warm.

This is a joint mixer/fundraiser for both the Central Brooklyn and South Brooklyn branches of NYC-DSA. All are welcome, regardless of membership status or branch affiliation!

6 PM. Doors open. Drinks, food, and snacks available.
7 PM. Movie begins.
9-10 PM. Party & Bullshit.

Bring friends, bring loved ones, bring blankets, bring cash.

ADA Accessibility: The backyard where the movie will be screened is accessible, but the bathroom in the house is not.
