ABCs of Socialism Reading Series

  • 242 East 2nd Street, 7th Floor Community Room (map)

What makes life so exhausting and miserable? You might be seeing some of your friends and comrades saying 'the problem is capitalism'. But what is Capitalism? Is it just how things are? Does it have specific rules? How do we know Capitalism when we see it? And if it is a specific system with specific rules, how do we change it or get rid of it?

Lower Manhattan DSA will be hosting a reading group on a series of new pamphlets put out by Jacobin Magazine + Catalyst Journal, written by professor of sociology, Vivek Chibber.

These pamphlets, in brilliantly simple and clear language, cover the rules and logic of our economic system (capitalism), the role of the state in society, and explain why socialists talk so much about the working class.

They currently cost $10 on Jacobin.com, but we're giving them out for free! Please contact the Lower Manhattan OC at lowermanhattandsa@gmail.com and we'll get you a copy before the meetings.

Here is the Facebook event.
