Our May meeting will focus on environmental / climate-based activism from a queer perspective. Some of our quomrades have encouraged us to have a session devoted to what queer activism can contribute to the climate movement, how our history of direction action and other tactics can relate to contemporary groups like Extinction Rebellion.
Additionally, we recently quietly passed the one year anniversary of David Buckel's self-immolation in Prospect Park. What does it say that a man who fought for queer rights (specifically, on the issue of marriage) ended up giving his life for this movement? What does it say about the mainstream LGBTQIA agenda?
