No matter the scale of the work you're doing in the DSA—whether you're on a branch OC, a working group, or developing a long-running campaign—one of the key skills for any socialist organizer is the ability to facilitate the collective development of a strategy, with goals, objectives, clear measures of success, and a clear plan to achieve what you set out to do.
That's why as part of our summer series of organizer trainings, next Sunday, July 28th, from 1pm to 5pm NYC-DSA will be offering a Strategic Planning and Facilitation training open to all members at ThoughtWorks (99 Madison Ave., 15th Floor).
This will be a four-hour training, going in-depth on a simple and repeatable method to develop a strategy, a plan to enact it, and how to step up and facilitate that process confidently. During the afternoon we'll be covering some really useful stuff:
🌹 How to Approach Developing Strategy: A Hypothesis-Driven Method for Outcome-Oriented Action
🌹 The Structure for Developing Successful Strategy: How to Map Out a Process that Fits the Needs of Your Work
🌹 Core Practices: Tools, Frameworks, and Approaches
🌹 The Role of Facilitation: Large + Small Group, Facilitating the Process
🌹 Defining Success: What To Measure, and How to Measure It Well
🌹 Moving to Action: How to Break Down your Strategy Into a Clear Plan of Work
All of these topics will have both informational and interactive components, meaning we'll be able to learn by doing together as we go!
The goal of this training is that every participant leaves with the knowledge and confidence to understand how to apply these tools universally across their organizing work, and will leave with the tools, resources, and materials to help them lead a process along with others.
If you're interested in this training, jump on it quick, we're going to try to limit the group to 40 seats tops so we have a manageable room that allows everyone to engage fully. You can sign up to participate using the link below!
