NYC-DSA Policy Platform

The Citywide Leadership Committee voted at its last meeting to work alongside membership to develop a 12-point policy platform that will help us guide our organization and our work. The final version of this platform will include one to two pages for each plank as well as a preamble to frame how all of these demands fit together in the broader struggle to end exploitation, defeat all forms of oppression, and build a sustainable economy.

Throughout April, we'll be hosting three citywide town halls—each organized around four planks—to discuss what should be included. Before each town hall, a first draft of each plank will be emailed to members along with a feedback form for submitting comments or revisions. Concurrently with the town halls, branches will be discussing the policy platform and gathering feedback from members at their April meetings.

Following this period of open feedback, a draft of the policy platform will be sent to members and advanced to the next Citywide Leadership Committee meeting in May. A final draft will then be voted on at the NYC-DSA annual convention on Saturday, June 1. Members will have the opportunity to amend the policy platform before convention. A process for amendments will be announced closer to convention.
